Carol Ranfone's Story
Founder, PetAccessDangers.org
Carol was born and raised in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Canada. Her husband, Ken was born in Long Island, New York. Carol’s primary driving goal is to make life better for those around her. Whether it be through her work as a Speech-Language Pathologist or Nursing Home Administrator, creating a healthy and loving environment for her children and pets, or doing a little extra for those in need, she feels that her true existence revolves around "seeing the brighter side of life."
For most of her professional career, Carol has worked as a contract Speech-Language Pathologist in various settings. She was awarded the Star Recognition Award while at Oak Hill Hospital for her achievements in patient care. She currently works as a contractor for the Pasco County school system, which she feels has proven to be both therapeutic and challenging. “I believe I need the children as much as they need me… they help fill the void of losing Matthew, my only son,” Carol said. “I see the five-year-old little boys and hope that I can help them succeed since I could not help my own. It has been rewarding beyond words.”
When not working, Carol spends every waking moment with her husband and two little girls, 9-year-old Jordyn and 6-month-old Jade, as well as their three dogs and two cats.
Carol grew up as the youngest of five children. She graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Bachelor's Degree in Arts, majoring in Psychology and later obtained a Master's Degree in Arts from Western Michigan University, specializing in Speech-Language Pathology. She also holds a license as a Nursing Home Administrator.
Following her Master's Degree studies, she returned to the United States and has resided in Florida since that time. While working at a nursing home she met her future husband, Ken, who at that time was a Certified Nursing Assistant. He graduated soon after with his Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy. Carol says she knew early on that Ken was “the one,” even before he proposed on bended knee while the couple was enjoying a tranquil moment together on Honeymoon Island in Dunedin, Florida.
After marrying in April, 1999, they bought a home in Spring Hill, Florida. Though the Ranfone family has since moved from that house, they continue to live in the Spring Hill area.
